Biography

Repertoire, collaboration and inquiry.

Theodoros Kameris was one of eight semifinalists of the 59th International Competition for Young Conductors in Besançon in 2025.

His work encompasses symphonic, operatic and contemporary repertoire, and he has conducted orchestras including the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Victor Hugo, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne, Athens Philharmonia Orchestra, Erzgebirgische Philharmonie Aue, West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra and Filarmonica Pitești.

In 2026, Kameris received the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra Special Prize at the Ionel Perlea International Conducting Competition in Romania. He was subsequently invited to work with the orchestra during the 2026/27 season, beginning with a recording project with the Greek Radio National Symphony Orchestra (ERT) in Athens in September 2026.

Kameris is the founder and artistic director of Musica Vivere, an international string orchestra founded in Tallinn and comprising musicians from more than ten countries. He has served as assistant conductor of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and, in June 2026, conducted Chronos Ensemble at the Cyprus International Academy for Young Composers, part of the ILINM Campus Summer Academy in Nicosia.

He studied choral conducting at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, graduating cum laude in 2023 in the class of Professor Toomas Kapten. He received Second Prize in the Academy’s Mart Saar choral conducting competition in 2022. His orchestral conducting studies continued at the Lithuanian and Estonian Academies of Music and Theatre with Professor Arvo Volmer, and at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden with Professor Georg Christoph Sandmann.

His artistic development has included work with Michalis Economou, Tomáš Netopil, Martin Sieghart, Olari Elts, Anu Tali, Colin Metters and Markus Lehtinen. His Master’s research examined Mahler’s Second Symphony through its connections with Wagner’s Parsifal and Schubert’s Ninth Symphony, and the implications of those traditions for conducting practice.
